What began as idea for unused space inside Jan’s RE/MAX office on Lone Oak Road soon became something much bigger. A vision for community, connection, and supporting Kentucky families. As a realtor, Jan has always believed relationships are at the heart of everything she does. She loves visiting local Farmers Markets, discovering handmade treasures, and meeting the talented artisans who pour their hearts into creating meaningful products. Seeing the incredible craftsmanship found throughout Kentucky inspired her to create a place where those gifts and the people behind them could truly be seen, appreciated, and supported.

Jan would get exhausted and overwhelmed within minutes of trying to find something online and dreamed of a storefront that would hold hundreds of small local craftsman and businesses under one roof that you could shop in person. Jan realized she could use the same skills she uses in real estate building relationships, connecting people, and marketing with purpose to help local makers reach customers who value their work. Instead of artisan products getting lost among millions of online items, this storefront brings them together in one aesthetically beautiful space where every piece tells a story. From pottery and woodwork to jewelry, candles, textiles, paintings, and personalized gifts, the store was designed to celebrate Kentucky craftsmanship while helping support the families, dreams, and talents behind every handmade creation.
Jan founded Unique Gifts of Kentucky with a clear and passionate vision: to create a space where Kentucky artisans are celebrated, not just tolerated. Where their stories are told, not just their products listed. Where their income is consistent, not just occasional. And where customers can discover authentic handmade Kentucky goods without wading through millions of mass-produced imitations.

That means a physical retail presence in a UNESCO Creative City, a dedicated artist page on our website, consistent social media promotion, transparent weekly sales reports, and reliable weekly payouts every Tuesday.
We believe that when artists have the right platform, their talent speaks for itself. Our job is to build that platform, maintain it, promote it, and make sure every artist who joins our collective has every tool they need to succeed. We handle the business so they can handle the art.
